Drip irrigation systems, as the name suggests, use drippers to feed water and/or nutrient to plants and can be used with hydroponic media to create a hydroponic drip system, coco or soil.
The most popular media nowadays is a coco mix this gives you the nutrient control of a hydroponic media, but with some of the benefits of a soil based media.
Drip systems are becoming increasingly popular for use with just water to drip feed into large organic pots. These growers often use 'super soil' and 'living soil' mixes where all the nutrient is provided by the soil and top dressings etc.
You can use a recirculating drip system such as the Wilma System where the nutrient runs back into the same tank it comes from or a run-to-waste drip system, such as our Critical Drip Systems, where the used nutrients pumps to a separate waste tank or down a nearby drain if available.
