Ecothrive Living Soil – The All‑In‑One Organic Solution
Finally – a genuine living soil mix that enables growers of every skill level to achieve outstanding results with nothing more than water and the occasional well‑timed top‑dress. Once your growing cycle is complete, the soil can be refreshed and reused, so you only need to buy it once.
Developed through years of research, trials, and refinement, Ecothrive Living Soil replaces traditional peat with coco coir. This not only improves water retention and aeration for healthier roots, but also lowers environmental impact. To make life even easier, Ecothrive has created a clear feed schedule and growing guide, suitable for a variety of set‑ups, taking the uncertainty out of using living soils.
Why Choose Ecothrive Living Soil
If your aim is to grow organically in the truest sense, living soil is the way forward. It mimics how plants feed in nature – no bottled fertilisers, just nutrients already in the soil or created through the natural breakdown of organic matter at the surface.
The process is simple: place rooted cuttings or young plants straight into their final containers from the start. The rich biology and nutrition within the mix will sustain them right through to harvest. All that’s needed is to replenish nutrients as the plant develops with occasional top‑dresses of Ecothrive Soil Food.
A Different Approach – Coco Over Peat
While many blends still rely on peat, Ecothrive’s mix uses coco as its base – a sustainable choice that future‑proofs the soil against the upcoming peat ban. Beyond the environmental benefits, coco offers excellent aeration, strong water‑holding capacity, and the perfect conditions for beneficial microbes to thrive – the very heart of a living soil system.
Packed With Natural Goodness
The blend contains a wealth of organic amendments, including mealworm frass, bone meal, seaweed meal, alfalfa meal, and insect meal – delivering a complete, slow‑release nutrient profile. Finely milled minerals such as rock phosphate, volcanic rock dust, gypsum, and limestone work together to improve nutrient uptake and overall soil health.
Biochar boosts fertility and locks in nutrients, while humic and fulvic acids enhance availability and support microbial activity. A carefully balanced mix of organic, chelated trace elements prevents unseen deficiencies that could otherwise harm growth and yields.
How to Use
Ecothrive has simplified the method, removing the trial‑and‑error often linked with living soils.
For a 1.2m x 1.2m grow area, use 180–250 L of Ecothrive Living Soil. Traditionally, large pots were preferred for living soil to hold enough nutrients for the full cycle, but with Ecothrive’s amendments, smaller containers can work well too. Suggested planting options include:
1. Four plants in 45–60 L pots
2. Two plants in 90–120 L pots
3. Nine plants in 20–25 L pots
4. Four to nine plants in a 3 ft x 3 ft bed
Pots under 20 L can be used, but will require more frequent top‑dressing and careful moisture management.
Once seedlings or rooted cuttings are ready, transplant them into your chosen container. Keep moisture levels steady – never let the soil completely dry out, and avoid over‑watering. Grassroots Fabric Pots or Beds are ideal, as they help maintain consistent moisture for living soil systems. Plastic pots also work, though standard fabric pots may dry out faster and require closer monitoring.
Throughout the grow, top‑dress with Ecothrive Soil Food Grow or Bloom at 1–2 g per litre of soil as nutrients are depleted. Ecothrive’s feed schedules detail exactly when to apply.
Reusing Your Living Soil
When the cycle ends, simply harvest your plants, remove the root ball, and mix in Ecothrive Soil Food Re‑Gen at 2–4 g per litre of soil. This recharges the biology and nutrients, ready for the next planting – offering the ultimate in sustainable gardening.
Available in 40 L bags – Ecothrive Living Soil is the long‑term, eco‑friendly way to grow healthy, high‑yield plants without the need for synthetic feeds.
